Roamsnap — Privacy Policy

Roamsnap (“Roamsnap”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Kishan Lal Choudhary, based in India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the app.

1. Information we collect

You give us directly

• Account — email address, and the sign-in method you choose (email/password, Google, or Apple). We do not receive or store your password when you use Google or Apple sign-in.
• Profile — username, display name, bio, avatar photo, and optional country, city and animal interests.
• Content you post — photos and videos, captions, comments, and (if you attach them) approximate or precise location tags on your posts.
• Messages — the direct messages, photos, videos and voice notes you send in chats.
• Purchases — the subscription you buy. Payment is processed by Apple or Google; we never see or store your card details — only the fact and status of the subscription.

Collected automatically

• Device & usage data — app interactions and events, via Firebase Analytics, to understand feature use and improve the app.
• Crash & performance data — via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring.
• Push token — a device notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications you’ve enabled.
• Advertising identifier — used by Google AdMob to serve ads to free-tier users (see §5). Premium subscribers are not shown ads.

With your permission (device features)

• Camera & microphone — to capture and record posts and voice notes.
• Photo library — to pick media to upload.
• Location — to tag posts and power nearby features (nearby veterinary care and wildlife sightings). You can decline; those features simply won’t use your location.

2. How we use your information

• Operate core features (feed, posts, comments, follows, messaging, stories, gamification, maps).
• Deliver notifications you’ve turned on.
• Provide AI-assisted features (e.g. animal identification), which send the relevant image to Google Cloud Vision for processing.
• Provide and validate subscriptions and premium entitlements.
• Show ads to free users (AdMob).
• Analyse usage, fix crashes, improve performance, and keep the service safe (spam, abuse and content moderation).

3. Legal bases (EU/UK users)

Where GDPR/UK-GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to run the app you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), consent (device permissions, and non-essential/advertising where required), and legal obligation where applicable. You may withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.

4. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With other users — your profile, posts, comments and public activity are visible per your privacy settings (public vs. private account, followers-only posts, etc.).
• Service providers that run the app — Google / Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, analytics, crash reporting, cloud functions, App Check) and Google Cloud Vision (AI features). Data is processed on Google Cloud infrastructure.
• Advertising — Google AdMob (free users only).
• Payments — Apple and Google, who process subscriptions.
• Legal — where required by law, or to protect rights, safety and the integrity of the service.

Google’s handling of data is governed by their own policies (policies.google.com/privacy).

5. Advertising

Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob, which may use an advertising identifier to show more relevant ads and to measure performance. You can limit ad personalisation in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads). Subscribing to Roamsnap Premium removes ads.

6. Data retention & deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your login and your profile, posts, stories and associated media, and frees your username. Some records may persist briefly in backups or where the law requires retention, and content you shared into shared spaces (e.g. a message in another user’s chat) may remain with that recipient. Aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot identify you may be retained.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (TLS), authenticated access, server-enforced security rules, and app-integrity checks. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and respond to incidents.

8. Children’s privacy

Roamsnap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Your information may be processed on Google Cloud servers located in asia-south1 (Mumbai, India) and in other countries where Google or we operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain uses. Use in-app controls (edit profile, privacy settings, delete account) or contact us at support@roamsnap.io to exercise them. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
